Case Study: Steel ORCA Data Center


Steel ORCA's data center, located in New Jersey's Princeton Technology Corridor, offers one of the first commercially-available exclusive dc Power environments. To distribute power, the center utilizes an EMerge Standard 380 Volt dc distribution bus architecture. EMerge member Universal Electric STARLINE DC Solutions worked with Emerson Network Power and other members and industries leaders to create the direct current Chip2Grid solution now available in Steel ORCA's 300,000 SF building.

What it achieves

The density-optimized data centers is focused on web services, hosting, mainstream computing, and high-performance computing. The dc powered modular series of HP ProLiant SL2500 Scalable servers are deployed in multi-node, high efficiency 4u chassis. Ideal for high performance computing and extreme density environments. The native dc architecture in Steel Orca's Digital Burst Environment combine to allow the highest system resiliency and reliability in a scalable and incrementally deployable power infrastructure that saves owner and tenants up to 50% of their initial capital investments.
